World Water Day, March 22nd, was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993. It was created with the idea of taking action to alleviate the water crisis impacting over 1.8 billion people around the globe who don’t have access to clean drinking water. With climate change intensifying year over year, droughts are becoming more prevalent and persistent and enabling this tragic situation to spread. Now, more than ever, we need to tackle the problem of environmental justice and fight for clean air, water, food and soil. By moving away from fossil fuels for energy production and the use of chemical poisons for food production, our planet will start to undergo a desperately needed healing process. It can’t come soon enough.
Here’s a look at artists and creatives celebrating the sacredness of our precious water.
